Portland Lutheran School (PLS) is committed to the enlightenment of students with an integrated program of academics, arts, athletics, social activities, spiritual education, and service to others. PLS employs rich resources of a college preparatory curriculum, adapted appropriately to early childhood through secondary levels, to encourage students to develop a comprehensive view of their opportunities to be critical thinkers and lifetime learners. They will welcome their future roles as contributors and leaders in an ever-changing world.

In the elementary years, those pursuits are teacher-directed. Moving into the secondary phase, they become more student-driven. PLS introduces internet applications that can supplement curriculum. General computer use, internet research strategies, keyboarding, word processing, presentation programs are all introduced at appropriate times for each class.

The PLS teachers work to stimulate intellectual and spiritual curiosity, encourage independent thinking and foster individual responsibility, challenging students to think, reason, question and experiment.
